It’s no secret, I love puns. I really wanted a punny title for this entry so I googled “Middle East puns” and you might not be surprised on how little there was … But then I came across this little gem and had to share
They’re now showing “The Flinstones” in the Middle East. The people of Dubai don’t get the humour but the people of Abu Dhabi do!”
(you may need to read it out loud and then you’ll chuckle. If you don’t find this funny we probably would have really awkward lunchtime conversations.)
After we finally digested all we ate in America we started our journey back home to Perth. In order to make the travel a little more palateable we decided to stopover in Dubai for a few days. It. Was. Awesome (and not just because the hotel was very kind and upgraded us). We stopped by the Dubai Mall to help fight off jet lag. (Although mall is an understatement). This place was huge including an aquarium, ice skating rink, the worlds tallest building and, wait for it, wait for it, Cinnabon (that just blew your mind didn’t it?) We were so overwhelmed that it was hard for me to shop. Don’t get me wrong, I still did, it just was more difficult that normal. In fact, overwhelmed seemed to be the theme of Dubai. Everything was bigger and better around every turn. Looking up at, and looking down from the Burj Khalifa was surreal, skiing in the mall in the middle of the desert was crazy, and cold, and off-roading in the desert on a safari made me … well, motion sick (some things never go away). All in all it was two thumbs up for taking a different route than usual to and fro the US to check out this country … oh yeah, it was really hot too.
